Default Insurance on an SC300 or 400 ... YIKES!

I currently own two vehicles and will (hopefully) be purchasing an SC300 or 400 soon. I just got off the phone with my insurance company. They raised my (and my wife's) rates by 33% because of losses incurred (by the company) within my state. I have had no accidents in 25 years and neither has my wife.

What really floored me was that the bill to insure an SC 300/400 would be 2.5 times that of my almost new truck. It floored me because I told them that the Lexus would only be driven a few thousand miles per year.

The question I have for you is what coverages do you normally carry for your car and who do you insure with? My guess is that you younger guys are paying an arm-and-a-leg for insurance. My company wants $1,018 per year (for 3K miles) ... and I am in my 40s.

20 here with driver's training and I pay $1600 a year for liability, fire and theft (which is the standard i think). If I were to have collision on it too I would be paying $8400 a year, yeah, outrageous I know. Maybe it is so different because I'm in Canada?

I am in Tulsa, OK. I insure my SC, LS430 and my Suburban full coverage (Comp & Collision) for $148/month. I also have my home insurance through them.

Maybe it is time for you to start shopping around for insurance.

My insurance would have been $1143 for 6 months for a 98 SC300 if I had gotten full coverage, but after much debate I decided to go with liability + uninsured motorist $330 for 6 months. I don't drive the SC much and it is pretty old.

hmm I am with progressive and I only pay 190 a month for my vehicles. They are listed in my sig. I am 29 and my wife is 25 I have full coverage on all vehicles, plus towing, plus uninsured on - except the Z only has liability as it is down. I think it is time to find a new insurance company.

I can tell you this though...the Lexus cost more to insure than the Yukon. Wife was not happy about that lol

Do you have Freeway insurance or some other cheap insurance? Cause that's cheap.
