Default Potential New Owner Speedo Question

Hi, I'm in the process of purchasing a 93 SC300 that appears to be in good condition except for the speedometer. It doesn't go past 20 mph and two of the lights are burned out. Is that typical for these cars? Is this a warning sign of potential problems with the car? Is there anything I can do to fix the needle?

Not really sure about the the speedo not going over 20mph but the needles and the lights in general can be fixed... check here https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-1st-gen-1992-2000/88406-true-ice-blue-red-caps-for-the-clusters.html

I would probably not do anything to the cluster in relation to lighting until you figure out if it is actually in the speed sensor or the unit itself. Even though the lighting upgrades can be swapped over, you should fix the more prioritized problem first which is obviously the speed issue. Have your speed sensor tested.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'll look into the speed sensor first.
