Default Quick question.

I got lucky and found a 97 SC300 blk/blk 5spd 115k. The car is super rare, super super mint 2nd owner and wasnt even posted FS. I found it about 2weeks ago and me and the guy agreed to 12k with some 18inch wheels and stocks. Here is my problem. The guy backs out of the sale the next day saying the car is super rare, mint blah blah blah and he doesnt want to sell it. I tell him thanks for thinking about it and wasteing my time. Now the the present 2weeks later he calls me up and says now he wants to sell it but for 13k without the wheels, but with the stockies.

Here is the question.
Should I still buy it?
Its kinda shady to call me back and try to get 13k for it.
I offered 12k again and then 12.5k but he wont budge. KBB is only 10,100 in excellent condition. I have the money but I was looking forward to some mods. Any input would be nice.

Ive been looking for a SC300 5spd for 7months and Im getting tired and so are my friends from giving me rides.

I wouldn't. He figured it was rare, and tried to scam you for more money... which you denied.

Later, he wants to sell it to you, but with stocks only? Freaken retarded. Tell him $12,500 with rims AND stockies if you really want it. Throw it in his face and say that's the final price you're willing to pay. Many people will not deny the stack of bills in their face.

Good luck with your decision. Shame you sold my old AC kit with your old car...

sounds like a nice find but for $13k you could get an older sc300 5speed, update it to the 97+ body and still have plenty left for other mods.

My brother will sell you his 97 sc300 5 Speed black/tan with 80K for $8900 with Forged 18's and stock's. Only thing is it has a salvage title but the car is VERY CLEAN and was repainted a 1 1/2 ago to get a fresh new look.

I'd only buy an sc at the price range of $4k-$9k. Above $9k I'd rather start shopping for a '98 up 540i.

i agree with 1992 SC300. there is nothing wrong with buying a salvage title car as long as you inspect it prior to purchase. there are many cars out there that are sold with salvaged titles that did not have frame damage or in some cases even minor damage. the problem is when you resell it. if you plan on keeping the car for a long time and not just buying it to make a quick buck it wouldnt make a difference.

i got my buddy a car about 3 years ago. it was a 2000 subaru impreza 2.5RS. low miles. gray on black. 5 speed. 2 door. the car had a salvaged title. when i got the car it had some minor damage to the front. the airbags didnt even go off in the accident. i got the car for 1800 and it cost 1300 to fix. now think of it. its a rare good condition car for half of what it would have cost back in the day. at this point he did an STI swap and a GT30R turbo.

100% TRUE!! And you wouldnt believe how many "clean title" cars have been wrecked and never reported.

I honestly wouldnt be interested at this point even at 1/2 off the asking price.
But heres what i think you should do:
Call him and say you definately want it, But dont mention a $ on the phone. And have him drive to you.
And when he arrives, Say this.......Look , You know what man? I've thought it over......
And well, You know since the KBB is only 10.1K? I'll give you 10K cash for the car w/stocks and a full tank of course......

I bought mine sc with salvage title, it was theft recovery, no body damage at all. Stolen headlights, radiator, stereo, and some broken plastics inside. Oh, and btw it's 95 black on black 5 speed, maybe even previous owner was a member here since it has 97+ front bumper, drop, intake and exhaust.

salvage title won't sell for anything everybody knows that. if he were to get into an accident insurance wouldn't pay crap for it...

I would stay firm with you offer in the first place. If he called you back after 2 weeks he needs to sell it. Its a rare color/combo along with the manual trans, if you want it pay for it. Seems a little shady, if he wants a quick sale I think the most hes going to get is 12K and that might be a little generous.
