I got a turbo that was hurt in a fire, it's covered in soot. The exhaust side is fine, but the compressor may be beyond saving. Is there a way I can JUST buy a compressor side and fins? It's a T61, btw.
here's some pics for reference. I thought the fins could be saved, but then I broke a piece off. D'oh!
call precision turbo and tell them what you have and what you need. they will help you out.
btw you cant just swap the compressor wheel. you need to balance the turbo after its assembled. otherwise you can have bad turbo bearing wear.
if i had it i would take it apart and have the exhaust housing and center section sandblasted and painted. the wheels can be cleaned up carefully with a fine wire brush. i rebuild 3 turbos already. its not hard at all.
