approx 10 to 15 years ago? i saw a custom built car in hot rod or car craft magazine (at the time i was into american muscle) this guy built a custom car using a lexus v-8.....made serious horse power and was candy wine with white accents, had a **** pit from a fighter jet, inline 2 seater and the add showed a guy with a fighter pilots mask for fresh air intake. the car was rear mounted exposed engine and looked like a indy type car with 17" wide tires that would not hook up also from an aircraft. i vividly remember reading the article and how the tires wouldnt hook up even at 90 mph punch. i was very inpressed..............

now that i am the proud owner of a 92 sc400...i was thinking what engine was this? did toyota build a different v-8 prior to 91? now i have to find this article and review what i read and saw in the past....any computer gurus that can find this would be most helpful......i have to know what mods were done it was also duel fuel methanol/gas blown with blower....ugg i have to see it again and learn if this was a first attemp into jap v-8 mega hp. the builder was an old guy and this was his last build i think it cost them 250k to put toghter and it out preformed all super cars for that year......any old timers here remember this and can assit?

i remember that! it was just a standard 1uzfe like what we have. that's all i remember though.

 

it was like 900 hp ...not standard (totally tweaked)

 

well, obviously modded, when i say standard, i mean it came out of a car like yours or mine and was then built.

 

may have been a V series older (like a hemi) with plugs thru valve covers...maybe?

I recall a 1932 roadster being built with a 1UZ, was black with nice tan interior.

 

there was a car called "the ground fighter" i believe that had close to 2000hp out of the 1uz-fe. it was supercharged with insane amount of boost in a custom made super car.
don't have any pics to it but that was one of them. it's just too bad the 1uz-fe isn't making much power or not many people here in the states have done so.

 

I think that new V10 engine in the upcoming Lexus LF-A/GT-F, if it could be swapped, would be awesome.
