Another my headlights condense thread
Called up my local scrap yard and they had an SC400 headlight. $115 and not a drop of condensation in the 3 weeks its been installed. The cost to me wasn't bad considering how much time I spent taking the old one out and resealing it.
I recently posted an addendum to the headlight DIY thread, where I photo-documented my experience taking the lights out and cleaning out the old sealant. I do strongly recommend putting the clamps back on while the new sealant is curing. I didn't address the issue of putting new filter media inside the vent tube, although I have a picture of the tube in question in that thread. The media in mine were either absent or badly deteriorated.
DO NOT seal off those vents. They are necessary for airflow inside the enclosure because the seal between the light bulb sockets and the enclosure is not airtight -- only the outer seal of the enclosure is (and obviously you don't want to put sealant around the bulb sockets or you'll never get them out again if you need to change a bulb).
