Default Need a little help? Starting problems...

Hello,

I'm having a couple problems with my car, i was an idiot when my alt died, i swapped another battery in, but i hooked the thing up backwards because of the way the terminals were facing =X, i blew a couple fuses, the only fuse blown right now is the radio fuse which won't be a problem, also the alt fuse is blown, but since i can't make it to the auto store right now, i pushed it together to force a connection.

I got the car to try to start now, it's cranking and cranking but won't turn over. Any ideas what I can check? There are a number of things that can be fried since i hooked up the battery backwards =X

Thanks for your help guys,

Michael

Car has fuel pressure, and trys to start, it's not clicking it's actually trying to turn over. I think it's some kind of ignition problem now =X

Might have a problem with the computer.

Check the relays too.

I'm not sure how to check the relays, I tested them to make sure they had resistance, and that was fine, but i don't know if they are clicking over or not.

Problem is still not solved. I'm going to give the battery a full charge tonight and try it tomorrow. The car wants to turn over it just won't. I also have a 5 speed ecu i'm going to try to see if the car will start, i also have another ignitor. I'm not sure what else to test.

I am a bit confused ...

Turn over => starter is able to spin the motor. rrrrr

Catching => When the engine spark, fuel, air all lignup and at least couple of cylinders fire up.

So if it is turning over but not catching then the problems are

a) immobilizer.
b) spark (includes timing ... also includes immobilizer + ecu)
c) Fuel delivery [gas in tank, fuel pump, injectors.

When my friend's son (SC300) connected the battery with wrong polarity, his whole dash was dead. I traced the problem to the high amp fuse (60 amps if I remember it correctly). To replace this you have to undo the fuse box and the sucker is bolted in from both ends.
