Damn Red! What a fiasco! Did the gas burn your skin like that???? Did you have any problems with fuel leaks after using the rubber hose and clamps?

WTF! Ive never had gas burn me. That is not normal, iude wire brush around the threads and spray pb let it sit. Did you bleed the line first? Its a good idea to pull the fuel pump fuse and run the car out of fuel first so you dont have teh fuel and pressure in the line. Ouch!

Ouch, that looks pretty bad. Yeah the fuel filter is a real B**TCH to change. I messed up mine too and spent two days trying to remedy it. I used a rubber fuel line for the two feet near the filter. Make sure your hose clamps are on TIGHT after about 6 months the rubber flared a little bit and I had a leak. flammable fuel leak is scary!

hahah EWWWW
thats nasty..

we changed our fuel filter..
we used LOTS AND LOTS of gloves.. had to change gloves ever like 10 mins.. for some reason it didnt wanna .. screw in.. soo it took us awhile..
LOTS of gas leaked out.. but we put it in the bottle
then filtered it and put it back in the car
of course we let all the gunk sink down
and only use the better half of the gas :]

but i never got burned.. i did get gas dripped in my eye.. though.. didnt feel that great :[ burned like no other haha

I pulled the fuse but it still leaks out. Took about 2 hours because the fitting was rusted in the filter. I wish I cut the line before I went through all that pain.

It SUCKED. imagine sleeping like that. My arm has healed since then

Haha, it was too much effort to close it up. I was determined to fix it. If I had to do it again, I would just cut the metal line and put a new hose over it instead of playing in gas for 2 hours.

Default Cut open the old filter for a 'look see?'

RedPhoenix, after removing the old fuel filter, did you cut it open to see how much debris was inside? Did it need to be replaced?
I've got a 92 SC4 with 151,000 and the original filter is still in place.
On the 89 Supra, the fuel filter is mounted above the Diff and the the Diff has to be dropped. At least the filter removal does not drain the tank.
Now after your experience, this is the reason the Lexus Mechanic doesn't want to do it.

Well ide say just cut the hard line and install rubber. Itll make for very easy filter changes..... Hard line fittings suck ***** in any application. Oh and if you need the threaded nipple fitting you can get them in any hardware store.....

I got a similar burn. It sucked in the summer when the burn was in direct contact with the sun. I've done it twice and got burned both times. Your arm looks all too familiar!
