Im kind of in a dilemma right now, ive been in talks with a CL member about buying his car for maybe the past 2-3 months but as i sold my sc family problems arose and i cannot buy the car right away and its a little bit larger of an amount.
Now my uncle who has an sc which is a '95 thats platinum silver with black int. told me that my mom told him i was looking for an sc, well he said he'd sell me his car with 107k on the clock for a stupid price - pay 1k for it- he wants to get rid of it because he wants a new car.... well my bigger dilemma is should i get it and if i do would you guys think it be stupid to paint it black (the color of the car i want to get??)
btw it needs a new paint job too- its faded

i would go with your uncles sc. 1000 for the car, you can't beat that! Even with a new paint job you would still be paying less than buying another one plus you get the black interior which is rare itself. If you like black go ahead and paint it black, you don't want to look at your car everyday and say, damn i should've painted it black

i like silver, but for that price you could afford to get a really nice black paint job down the road. if your gonna go for a cheaper paint job i would keep it silver. def buy your uncles sc, good luck

I would DEFINITELY take your uncle's SC!!! I love silver. But if the silver is faded then I guess it might need new paint eventually, or maybe just a few body panels painted, depending how bad it is. I just know I would be all up-tight about every little scratch, etc. if I got a new paint job. I wouldn't paint it black, personally, though. I would paint it a clean and elegant Lexus color; so many to pick from. I, personally, would paint it one of a variety of silver or bright blue (RSP) shades.

Keep in mind the downtime and the extra money it takes to do a color change to the car. A good paintjob runs at least $3,000 if you want it done right. Meaning you have all the moldings, seals, etc removed before painting along with all the prepwork. Add in any extra money you might have to spend on moldings that are broken in the process of removing them.
If you keep it the same color, it would require less downtime and money as you can just have the faded parts repainted and blended with the parts that are still in good shape.
Just my .02

well i have the silver color and would love to have it repainted the same color, but if you want black go for it, and you'll have a $4k ish SC with perfect paint, still a good deal IMHO
David, you are lucky bastard!!! 1K for a 95 with blk int???? Hell yes!!!
I never liked the pre 97 silver, so I would go for a color I like.
SO for you, blk!
Not lexus blk, get a different blk, our black doesn't have clear coat.
Come over and check out the difference between my GS and my SC.
