Default Dyno'd the 1J this weekend (dyno plot attached)

So some of you may have seen that we ran a dyno day down here in beautiful Arizona this weekend (LEXAZ event). Big thanks to Chris (Kaiser) for organizing the event and Keith at the shop for letting us use his dyno.

As far as mods are concerned, they include:
1) 1JZ-GTE w/ factory twins
2) cat delete with full custom Magnaflow exhaust
3) Greddy Profec Type-S boost controller
4) 24"x12"x3" front mount intercooler
5) 440CC injectors
6) cold air intake (in the front bumper) with AEM dry flow
7) W58 tranny

With 13PSI, I was able to hit 289whp and 292wtq.

If you look at the plot, you'll see I'm running super rich ~10.5 A/F. I have some room with A/F to gain some extra ponies but I'll need to go to an AFC which I plan. I'd like to hit 300whp/300wtq!

Also, raising the boost yielded no gain in power, implying 13PSI is pretty much the limit of the twins on my motor.

Plot:

Stick to 13PSI, but trim the fuel delivery with some tuning so that you can get into the 3xx whp/wtq. Nice baseline dyno!

Yeah, with a bit of tuning and a boost controller, not to raise boost, but just to control the wg, you could make a bit of low end tq, and bring peak power up to about 310-315whp, with the tq going up about 15wtq as well. The powerband on the 1J/2J is so linear with the stock twins and no boost controller, but it still feels very quick. Nice numbers though, congrats!

Shern - don't forget we are going to fix that boost leak we found after the run. That coupled with some fuel trimming and I think you'll make it over the 300 mark. I'm pretty sure it's your bypass valve opening when you turn the boost up over 13psi and the reason for that is the boost leak is so close to the valve and the spring alone can't keep it shut.

Nice I did 272rwhp when I had twins with the same mods except I was on stock injectors and 10 psi.

Chris

I was thinking the same thing about the diverter valve. If this is the case and the valve is not letting me go past 13psi, there may be hope with boosting a little higher. Time for a blockoff plate and BOV! Tial, here I come!

Thanks

To be honest, I think if I can join the 300/300 club, it will be enough for now. I'd like to get the body kit going, upgrade the suspension to coilover and get aggressive on a new wheel fitment. After those are complete, I will look into going single. 300whp is pretty darn quick for the street.

you can acheive this with stock injectors and more boost stock turbos dont need more fuel than what the 370's flow .if it does you might want to get a fuel pressure regulator.

Very nice numbers! Im sure you'll get a few more horses if you throw an emanage or AFC into the mix.

I wondered how long it was gonna take for somebody to chime in on that.

NOTE TO SELF: "I will not test drive a 500whp car, I will not test drive a 500whp car......"
