Sorry guys, but not feeling the rear wiper. It takes away from a clean looking rear windshield. For anyone is trying to do this your best bet is probably geting one from mk3 supra jmho.

I'm no longer too crazy about the rear wiper, In fact, I've given up on it...Some Soarers had it while some Soarers didn't, I suppose it was just an optional part...And I agree, It does take away from the smooth lines of the SC. Although, If I stumbled across one, I wouldn't hesitate in picking one up.

For those who have actual Soarers, Do you guys love or hate the rear wiper?

I think this thread deserved a bump LOL!

Btw, This is the only known Lexus SC300 in North America (At least that I know of) to have done the rear wiper conversion...Don't bother PMing this guy as he never responds and last I heard, He was banned from these forums.

Definitely a nice addition, for anyone with a USDM Lexus SC looking to complete that JDM Soarer look.

^^ did you ever look into the glass cutter option? it would be ther easier option if it can be done. im no glass expert. but i could def retro a diff unit into my sc if i had the hole cut.

but since this is a JDM "bling" topic. anyone know where these rear side marker pieces can be found? or at least a proper name, and if they came OEM? i cant find ANY info on them. =[

I'm fairly knowledgeable when it comes to Soarers, I've never seen those on a Soarer before and I'm almost certain those rear side markers never came on Japanese Soarers from the factory...Those ^^^ look like they were retrofitted on much later to conform to another country's (Other than Japan) local traffic vehicle code laws it seems like.

P.S I had a friend who had those same rear side markers outfitted onto his R32 Skyline...When he got his car here to California (From Canada).

ahhh that makes sense, is it possible to have a glass cutter cut a hole in the rear window for the wiper?

I don't think it can be done, It seems the rear defroster panels on USDM Lexus SC's are in the way of where the hole would've gone through on JDM Soarer models...It's better to just get an actual Soarer rear window (With wiper of course and yes, The rear windows are different) and swap it from there...But unfortunately for us Lexus SC guys, That's a task in itself.

The answer actually has to do with the differences between JDM and USDM tail lamps on our cars. It's most easily visible with a pair of 95-96 tails. Look at the outside bottom corner, and you'll notice a reflector in there - the JDM tail lamps do not have these reflectors.

Depending on which country you're importing to (or which inspector you take your car to), they may demand that rear-corner reflectors be installed on the vehicle. It's much easier for importers to slap on 2 cheap reflectors rather than swap out some USDM tails to get the car registered. Hence, you sometimes see these reflectors installed on exported Soarers.

I have a long narrow driveway - the rear wiper is nice when reversing out in the rain. I like having it rather than not just because my SC400 doesn't. I will agree though, looks cleaner without.

The wiper in the back helps a lot and I'm happy I have it =)

Also upgraded awhile ago to update the look of the wiper.. although it doesn't cover the same area as it used to.

Thought I'd do a quick post about the rear wiper look as I took advice from earlier in this thread today and fitted a rear wiper from a Subaru Forrester. It fitted straight on but I did need to file about 5mm of plastic away to clear the squirty nozzle. Apart from that no problem and I'm sure you agree it looks a damn site better!

Mick.
