In the end, mixing your own high octane fuel and buying high octane fuel costs nearly the same. No real point in going through the trouble of mixing if you can just easily get 100 octane at your local gas station.

I have never seen anything above 93 in my state. You can get race fuel up to 107 at any local speed shop around here. Ive done the whole toulene thing to...

There are some stations with race fuel around Detroit. But for me that's a 1.5 hour drive.

I did the Toluene mix by neccesity... and a tiny bit for novelty.

My SF thread has great info on adding the lubricant and detergent into the mix.

I did run nearly 100% toluene in my '94 Stealth a single time. The tank was entirely empty... I was in an extreme hurry and I had no pump gas around only Toluol. In went a 1/2 gallon and I drove across town and then later to the gas station for some 94. There was no significant change in performance or running condition, although I didn't gun it since I was trying to conserve fuel.

It was an interesting test.

Detroit does have decent fuel, and nitrous filling stations too.
Guess that's "motor city", eh?

I agree with the statements earlier - just buy it... my favorite is MS109, it's 105 octane unleaded race gas - allowed me to run 26 psi on my AWD Talon with advanced timing and no knock... not to mention it didn't kill O2 sensors like C16 does... however, C16 is higher octane numbers, so, it depends on what you are trying to do...
