I started my car today, and for a few seconds this light came on my dash and turned back off. I dont have the manual that shows what its for. I would like to know what it is and what does it mean. Thanks in advance.

 

Low coolant light. Check your coolant level, take a look at the overflow tank... fill as required. If you check the level at the radiator, make sure the car has cooled down as its under pressure when hot. Good luck.

if you said it goes away after you start up the car for a few minutes it probably means you are beginning to see signs of a coolant leak somewhere in your system.

i had the same experience, it came on for a little bit during warm up then the light went away... so i filled up the coolant tank and kept checking again as the weeks passed, the coolant level didn't drop so i didn't think too much about it. that was when i was in CA, its always warm in CA.
when i took my car to TX, TX gets cold winters, below freezing... after about 1 week in cool temps the light came on again.. clearly there was a leak... slow at first because i could fill it up and not worry about it for 3 days but in the end the leak got bigger so I got a new radiator and all hoses and got it replaced... leak gone... no more light.

fill it up.. don't worry about it until it starts to come on day after day..

 

hmm, car has a brand new radiator in it. guy installed it before i bought the car back in march. i put in some coolant last night, lets see how long it lasts.
