When do you guys usually fill up your SC's with gas?? How low does the needle actually go before you are in trouble? I heard that the needle can fully pass below the "E" until you see the whole E, is this true? Usually when the needle is on the E, my light goes on. At first the light goes on and off and on and off until eventually it just stays on - but once it stays on, approximately how many miles can you travel before you are in danger?
it does the on and off, on and off thing for a LONG time. When my gas needle COMPLETELY covers the final hash mark and I fill up, I usually put in 15-16 gallons. I've never put it more than 17 gallons on one fill up, and that one time I did the gas light was doing the off and on thing. The needle was BELOW the final hash mark. That leaves 3.x gallons before the tank was completely empty, you can easily go 50 miles more on that. That little needle is deceiving. I usually fill the tank when I get under 1/4 hash mark..
hmm well i fill when the light is on.. or abuot to turn on..
i just filled the tank yesterday and it was just at the E but light wasnt on.. well i filled 15.9 gallons :\ soo i had a lot gas left didnt know it.. and i was at 290miles
i normally get around 320-340 miles per tank.. but i dunno what i should be getting since i just put new rims on. :\ and they are kinda heavy >.<

I think I could 350+ if I let the tank run dry...but I never do. Usually I fill at 300 miles on the tank, which puts in high-14-low-15 gallons in. Everytime at the pump I'm SURPRISED at how much is left in the supposedly 20.6 gallon tank, given where my gas needle is at and how many miles I've driven on the tank. This is all mixed driving btw, highway/city
Do not let the needle go all the way past the "E" letter thinking that you'll have enough gas to make it safe home.
I've always keep careful observations on my gas consumption and generally, as soon as the yellow low gas light goes off on the dash, I would not travel more than 50 miles.
I tried the "going past below the letter "E" theory" and put it to test on one hot summer day. I'll let you figure out that result was. The SC4 only went 362 miles before it ran out of gas.
By the time the needle hits the last click on the gas gauge, the car has consumed about 17-18 gallons. Full tank on SC is approximately 21 gal.

See i don't see how that is possible? I hit the last click on the gauge and fill up, but it'll put in at MOST 16 gallons...that leaves 4.5 gallons to go, which is at least 70 more miles...When the light comes on, it puts in 17.x gallons for me. I think the light does the on/off thing at 3-4 gallons remaining, then constant on at 2 gallons remaining.
Like I said, that needle is deceiving. At times, I'll fill up when the needle is JUST ABOVE the 1/4 mark, like so that the needle is not covering the hash but about to, but then I'll fill up and it will only take 13 gallons! It's like, half should have put in 10-11 gallons, yet this is almost at 1/4 but it only took a little more than half a tank...that's why I don't risk going to the E so the light will come on, sketchy-**** needle

acenase, Just don't play Russian RouGas and fill it up before the the needle reach the E.
I always fill it up at the 1/4 mark, and that usually takes approx. 15-16 gallons to fill it up to the top. So, I would assume since it is a 20 gallon tank, you'll have 4 more gallons or an estimated 80 more miles before you're on fumes.
