Heh, VW are plauged with gold digger chicks. They buy the VW because they look expencive while they're the cheapest german cars around. Heheheh.

PS. Ya, nothing comes easier as a SC300 or Supra with turbo.

Sorry if I was harsh, I know not everyone who drives VWs are like that. But around here in Chicago you'll see a lot of little girls who dress lil more fancy than most who drive VW and go to starbucks and caffes a lot. Hehehe. I know VW are nice cars, but I am just not too interested in these cars. It's the boxy look and the power gains are simmilar to cars ala Honda. On the other hand, these cars with a body kits look pretty nice and unique. Very clean look.

the power gains are similar to a honda?

a simple chip takes a WHOLE SECOND off the 1/4 for the 1.8t.
400 dollars for a second off the e.t. ive never seen a stock honda do that.

dpipe/midpipe/exhaust... 35 hp? never seen a honda do that.
basic mods get the 1.8t's into the high 13's.. talk about sleeper.
from there on, a turbo upgrade gets you into 11-12's easily.

call it boxy, and ugly.. but PLEASE do not call it a honda!

damn...directql went there...callin it a honda...ouch....although i had a GSR years ago..and with inatake header exahust and a nitrous shot i was in the low 13s all day......as for the Vw.....your making it sound pretty easy to get them in the 11s and 12s....as of now im only an 11sec lexus and i have never had a VW stay close.....mabye i havent run into the right guys.....but i have seen very few 12 sec and lower VW..i have seen some drag cars in the 10s but never a street car.......im not bashing ya.....and not calling it a honda.....but i think it takes a little more than chip..dp exahust and a turbo to get it in the 12s......start modding that bad boy and prove me wrong Jeff

I kind of like the new VW Bugs. Stick transmission shifts really good. Yes, I thought of it as a Honda also but, who cares? Don't know if the reliabitlity is as good as Honda though. So what, if it's the Miata of the new Millenium .

Wow, a chip that gives you an increase in boost and then by doing exchaust, midpipe, downpipe you're doing more than free flow exchaust. By doing that you increase boost even more. That sounds like a typical turbo car for me. Why do I see it as a Honda? Because it it's around the same price range and class. It's sub-compact. Wow, 13s, what is it? 13.9? Hehehe. Now tell me, what's the ET on your nice 1/4 miles, ohh wait, you're prolly not running that fast anyways. People who got their cars into 13s love to b/s how easy it was, but guess what, it's not ever that easy.

uhm. its not in the 13's now because i got it 350 miles ago.

im glad i got rid of the sc. im so happy that i have something different... the sc just moved along... i like the torque.

.. may i ask you how much you have spent getting your sc into that 10 second range? casue im sure its a hell of a lot more to get the gti into that range .. from your inline 6 3.0 :O

you get what you pay for boss...thats a theory i have learned in my life.....i have spent alot of cash on alot of different things.....but to get both cars in the 10s is gonna cost you about the same...except with a lexus you can keep stock pistons...stock rods.....stock cams and head and be in the 10s.....it has been done before..and i plan to do it agian.....and whats more shocking...a VW in the 10s...or a lexus in the 10s?....its all a matter of opinion.....i like my lexus...it makes me happy....if your happy with the VW then thats all that matters.......but think about this....scott paid 7500 for his turbo set up and ran in the 12s on low boost and street tires......if he turns up the boost and runs drag radials or slicks he is in the 11s for that price.........but remember if your happy thats what matters...Jeff

The way I see it, it's like comparing a Toyota Supra to a VW. Now, Soarer was meant to be best at the top end, not low end like VW. VW are fast in 1/4 that's fine, but let me see a dyno, and let me see the ET times on the VWs. Both of these are indications of power. Your car is about only good for a 1/4 mile and then it dies out like roadkill.

Supra's BPU top speed is around 200. :-D The 1.8L 4 banger is not exacly the best engine out there. VR6 is a 2.8L 6 cylinder engine. Little better design and reliability out of the VR6.

I saw a video of a dewd in a stripped out turbo VR-6 running low 11's... it sounded nice. I think Ferdinand Piech makes some sick looking cars, especially the muted badassness of the S4.
But damn, some people are stuck up about their cars... I'll respect a VW that can run with the best because it's fast. The fact that it's not a cliched POS like a Honda makes it all the better.. anyone who runs a Honda is one of that crowd regardless... and THEY are marred forever with all the busters and fools that are trying to be like them regardless of how hooked up their car is.
