Default R154 & W58 shifters

Would a C's shifter from a W58 fit an R154 and visa-versa?

thanks

This post, Solution to Soarer R154, lends me to believe that the shifter would indeed work since the author makes the statement that:

"again this was done on a w58 that needed to be lengthened but will work for the mk3 also as i have researched and found that the tail housing between the two transmissions are very similar."

But, I do not know if there is a gospel opinion on this topic. I would expect the Supraforums guys to know more about this. The percentage of gearheads on supraforums is significantly higher than on club lexus.

I was told that on my '92 W58 there were no short shifter options.

If you figure something out be sure to post it, I want a shifter baaaad.

ok, the main reason im asking is because I have an R154. When i was fitting the C's shifter, i came to take the plasic/nylon ring that nestles under the pivit ball of the shifter, and it fell into pieces. I guess it perished over time. In the UK its proving very difficult to find this part(could be discontinued?). I was wondering if i could fit one from a W58 as the shifter area looks pretty similar.

OR, i dont mind paying someone if the part is avaialble state-side at Toyota.
thanks

C's makes a short shifter for the R154 tranny. I should know I have installed one in my car. And they are readily available here in Japan

I dont have a pic of it as it fell to bits when i took it out of the selector housing. It sits inside the housing:

Its a ring that sits inside the housing and takes the shape of the bottom part of the pivot ball on selector:

Unfortunately the C's kit doesnt come with it and you have to use the OE part.

I would bet money that Curt Aigner at Elmhurst Toyota could get you that part. Well worth an email to him with that diagram you posted...

TRD 33530-JX000, I saw it on a site as a short throw shifter for the 93+ non-turbo 5-speed Supra. Is this for real?
