SC4 lip on SC3: how do i mount it?
When youre working with bodyparts, 3M 2 sided tape is your friend! Since it isnt actually necessary to use the 3M. I would still consider this a bolt on affair.
Anyhow the double sided 3M tape was a tip i got from a body shop guy. And it seriously helps with installing kits, etc. (especially lips and sideskirts
)
bro, there is no measuring....
step 1. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER
step 2. REMOVE MOUNTING HARDWARE FROM LIP
step 3. PLACE LIP ON BUMPER AND LINE UP
step 4. MARK WHERE THE HOLES ON THE LIP ARE
step 5. DRILL THE DAMN HOLES WHERE YOU MARKED
step 6. MOUNT THE LIP
step 7. PUT BUMPER BACK ON CAR
step 8. DON'T ATTEMPT SIMPLE MODIFICATIONS IN THE FUTURE

Heres how i installed it :
1st of all the lip was used and in pretty rough condition when i got it. But it had all of the mounting screws and brackets still attached to it.... It even had a torn chunk of the old bumper still attached.
So I took it all apart and cleaned it up a bit. And i used some pliers to straighten some of the brackets. I did a prefitting (Basically i just lined up all the mounting points)
And everything lined up. So i did a quick respray of paint, As it had previously been painted black.
A couple days later i assembled it Using the hardware mine came with. Plus my favorite tape of course!
....Thats it. ( Except, I did make it harder on myself by not removing the bumper 1st . Like you are supposed to .

ok so i mounted the lip today, all the holes were already in the bumper underneath except for three hole on each side that i was worried about drilling earlier. i drilled the holes on one side and realized that it really wasnt necessary to have them there so i removed the bolts from the lip with a dremel tool. it is held on very securely even without the side bolts but isnt flush were the bumper meets the lip on the top of the lip so i used some of that 3m double sided tape(white foamy looking stuff) and it sits flush and you cant tell its there.
...Edit: dont use 3m tape, it wont stand up against water. i used a hot glue gun and it worked great. i'll let everyone know in a few days if its held up

i put the lip on my 93 and i believe it had holes, but they weren't perfectly in the right spot. i don't remember drilling, but i don't remember the fitmet being perfect. basically theres no magic behind mounting a piece of plastic to a bumper. line up holes, if there aren't holes, make holes, then use whatever you want to make it stay together. i believe i used some type of body clips, or something along the lines of plastic rivets. but even a short bolt with 2 big washers and a nut would work. or, just buy a front bumper with the lip, lol
