Default Please help... front lip scrapping

I love this site, can't get enough of it... here is my story:

The other day I was going up a steep driveway and scratched up the underside of my front lip. I got sick to my stomach once I heard it , didn't even want to get out and look. From other posts I have read, seems to be a common occurrence since our rides sit pretty low.

I notice there is a seem that goes all the way around the very bottom of the front lip. Does that mean the front bumper is made up of two pieces? I found a bolt on both sides of the bumper, but I'm not sure if this is what holds the very bottom of the front lip to the rest of the bumper. If it is, is it possible just to buy that bottom piece somewhere?

You can only see the scrapes if you get on your hands and knees, but it urks me to know it's still there. Don't really want to get the whole bumper painted just for some scrapes underneath. I'm really careful with driving my baby, but it will more than likely happen again.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

it happens... and i wouldn't worry about it.. and your right the bumper is made up of two pieces... if you really wanted to you could unscrew the 4-5 bolts under there and your front lip would slide right out. then you could have it repainted.

waste of money IMO. you might as well leave it or buy a different lip and paint that.

Yes, there are actually 3 pieces to our stock front bumper-the bumper itself and 2 pieces for the front lip.
You can buy the front lip from your dealer.
IMO, I think the stock ride sits pretty darn high-even with the OEM sport suspension.
You WILL scrape your lip again, I guarantee it-it's just a matter of time. Just get over it and if possible try to avoid driveways like that-if you can't, just drive slow at an angle.

If you want to, you can buy some touch up paint at most Lexus dealerships and touch the lip up so you don't see the scrapes. Most people scrape their lips, it's normal.

Yeah, I bought an OEM one off a member on here after i pulled up onto a curb with 4 people in my car. I don't even give a crap about it now, and trust me I am very **** about my car. You should see my driveway. Mine is all scratched underneath, but as long as you can't see the lip like sticking out no one can see it. Actually, when I was shopping for my car I had a 335i given to me over night, and also the is350 over night Just to make sure the cars would be able to make it into my driveway. The both do, but sometimes scrape. I hit it from an angle and it's so steep that my right inside tire will actually get airborne for a second. Our chassis is so stiff, it pulls the wheel right up. It's funny. I should take a pic of it actually.

On this one commute back home, I hit a patch of sunken concrete so deep my front right of the lip touched the ground :P Its all scratched up now and 2 plastic clip holding the wheel well to the front fender popped out But you really have to kneel down and touch it to know so I've gotten over it now

I scrape the GFX lip all the time.. I get used to it and it dont bother me at all.. I trust the stock lip rather then aftermarket lip because most aftermarket lip break easily then stock lip..

Its probably cheaper to buy a new pre-painted lip than to get it resprayed.
