Okay so I am trying to source a R154 from a Soarer through a Japanese Auction Site and I found the following and it says it is a MT swap for Jzz30 so I am trying to make sure this is the R154 and not another W58...

looks like an r154 to me, however it doesn't look like it has the extended tail section. Looks to me more like a supra r154

 

Yes sir that is an R154. I know I have one and that is from a soarer because of the tail section.

Yeah, thats a Soarer tranny. But, Good luck, most sellers in Japan don't ship internationally

 

Someone told me that the R154 was good for 750hp, is that true? I alwyas thought it was only good for about 450

 

Yea I know someone running upwards of 600 HP on his it's in a MKIII. You're probably thinking of the W58 thats good for about 450.

 

do all 5speed soarers come with the r154?

 

On 7MPower.com, there is a member putting down like 750wtq on the R154 in a MKIII. Most Australians (who have more experience with the tranny) believe it to be almost on par with the V160 in terms of durability.

 

It was my understanding that all Soarers come with R154 because they also have the 1jz...I may be wrong though. As for shipping...I got that covered I just hope I can figure out everything before the auction ends or I will just wait for another one to come around. They have auto trans's up on these sites all the time...but I already have a 1jz auto trans if anyone wants

 

Yup as far as I know. I Know there was a 1jz-ge motor not sure if those came with 5sp though.

 

hmm, my tail section DOES NOT look like that...maybe a different generation soarer r154....
