funny you mention that...i changed it not to long ago, maybe about 6 months... but it has been making some spinning noises lately. i put some belt dressing on it but that didnt seem to help.

should i try a new one?

This is a common problem for all SC300/400. I'm going through the same problem. It comes down to a few things that can go bad. Check these 1st:
1. tensioner pulley - $140 from Advance Auto Parts
2. bearings in the center of all pulleys - $5-$10
3. stretched serpentine belt - ~$40
4. A/C clutch/pulley assembly - bearings $35
Other than that, which I have replaced (except for A/C clutch), good luck, because mine is still squeaking.
