Default Serpentine belt issue

I noticed a squeaking coming from my car at idle and I diagnosed it as the belt slipping on the car by using a chalk line on the belt & pulley The belt feels quite tight (about 1/4 inch of play) and I don't want to tighten it any more with the fear of ruining the belt or worse. My question is:

A) Given this belt is about a year old, should I go ahead and replace it with a new one?
B) Also, is there any link as to how to remove the belt?

***Update! Found out it is the bearing in the idler pulley, $5.50 to fix***

was it the idler pulley bearing, did you change it out and the squeaking went away?

Mine will sometimes jerk the steering a tiny bit at very low rpms -- like under hot idle and turning the wheel full lock--

I wonder if it could be the bearing --- The idler pulley sounded a bit dry on the right side of the motor-- (driver side) on the top right-- I spun it by hand and it kinda sounded like a skateboard wheel instead of a precision machine bearing-- -- ksssssssshhhhhhh -- something like that--
