Default Belt Tension Question

Hi Friends!

I am having a bit of squeaking belt issues on my 350. I initially replaced the belt thinking it was time. The squeaking stopped. Fast forward roughly 500 miles, belt noise is back. How Can i tighten the tensioner ? I noticed that my belt is not as "tight" as the day i had belt replaced. I tried to tighten it with a 14mm on the tensioner and turned towards the passenger side but the tensioner just moves and loosens the belt and gets back to its place once i stop. This isn't really making the belt tension any stronger so What am i doing wrong? Why wont the belt tighten up?

Do i have to completely relieve the tension 1st? Or can i just increase the tension from its position as-is?

I am sure there is some other issue at the moment such as a bad tensioner, which i will replace. But before i do that I want to confirm again by getting the tension back to normal and see if it gets loose again before I replace the tensioner.

Thank you!

Your belt tensioner is no good. It's spring loaded no adjustments can be made.

Assuming it is the correct belt, time to look into replacing the belt tensioner.
