Torque Converter Question
Increasing line pressure by tightening the actuator will only REDUCE trans heat-- It speeds gear changes and greatly reduces the smooth out flare-- greatly-- You have to remember that these Lex transmissions are programmed to slip the clutches in and out of gears during shifts to make them undectable-- This slippage GREATLY increases heat and wear-- Speeding up the shifts will do nothing but make your car faster, sportier, and make the trans last longer--

I'm so glad I did it--
Higher stall is very normal even in cars with MORE power, like a Maxima for example-- The new Maxima's and 350z's have a much higher stall than these SC's have--
I also think the GS has a lower rear end ratio indicating that lex was trying to make a heavy car faster -- just happens to be about the same weight of an SC4--
I would of course rather just install an R154 and be done with all this slushbox business-- I hate automatics--
I'm seriously leaning toward going IS300 -- or 540i --

Where exactly is this adjustment located? Is it what I would call the transmision kick down cable? What is the factory spec supposed to be?
It is the detent cable if you will-- but it's an electronic trans-- so this speeds up shifts as it thinks you're in the pedal much more and in a hurry-- so it increases line pressure and holds gears longer electronically-- It adjusts these parameters by reading throttle position and load --
It doesn't shift as hard as a 350z now, but I still have a little adj. left I may try just to see how firm it will get-- I truly can't stand automatic transmissions-- they just don't know what you're going to do next-- so they never know when to drop 2 gears to brake if you want to slow down REALLY fast--
The cable is connected to the TB just under the TRAC cover on top of the manifold-- There are 3 cables- cruise (runs to the pass side fender well), throttle (runs into firewall), and trans cable ( runs down to the trans) --
You remove the cover with 3 10mm bolts, then have two 9/16" box wrenches (14mm??) to adjust the cable-- You can't miss it-- it's very obvious--

oh.... i thought that those cars had a torque management system on them for smoother shifts. They shift very weak. I have that ECT power thing on all the time because i guess under like full throttle it is supposed to shift harder but i would still like even harder shifts than that. but not too rough, i dont want to break anything.
and that actuator you are talking about. is that like a TV cable? i didnt take a look at it yet or anything. but it just sounds like that is what this actuator is sorta like.
i'll have to change that pressure then.
thanks

The harder it shifts the better for trans internals-- but worse for motor mounts-- which I just changed-- not that bad to do, but waaaay too soft material for my tastes--
I'd love for TMEngineering to come up with some better mounts -- or some way to use the TRD mounts -- Is that possible with the right hardware to use the TRD's for the 2JZGTE on a 1UZ????

Yes I'm confused as well. I just relocated my throttle body when I installed my supercharger, I am pretty sure from your description which cable it is. Its the one that comes from the transmission. I set mine so when the throttle body is closed the cable is all the way relaxed. I took it as this was a passing gear kick down, your telling me its not. What is the factory specification on this cable adjustment? I read someplace else that adjusting this like you are describing is bad for the transmission, you say its not, I really dont want to weaken my transmission since I pushing more HP thru it but better shifting would be nice.
