My heater core developed a problem... so I attempted to replace it. I pulled the dash... took the heater core out along with two little coolant pipes that lead through the firewall.
Now. In that process, I damaged the two little pipes that go to the heater core. I ordered the heater core and it did not come with the pipes. I called multiple dealers and they all say the pipes come with the heater core.
The problem is that the dealership does not have a part number for the pipes. So automatically it assumes they come with the heater core. When I got my heater core it came boxed with no room for anything else. So it's not like anything is missing.
One would assume something is missing from the box but there are other people who had the same problem. One of them a local guy (with a 1997 SC300) and a member of this site. He ordered the heater core three times, and no pipes! He ended up re-using the existing pipes.
Now. I need those pipes! I created this thread as a way of documenting my struggle for others who will need them in the future.
I called Lexus. Five dealerships. So far... nothing. It's been a month or so. I will attach pictures soon.
when i did my heater core i called lexus and they told me the only way i can get thos two pipes if if i order the whole heater box assembly, the huge white heater box, $1755. thats the only way. so i just reused the original ones.

I am more than sure that was the excuse. They told me that after I told them you were trying to figure this out with Woodfield. The guy from Naperville Lexus told me the same thing after he called Woodfield. Woodfield is just downright rude every time I call their parts dept. Perhaps it's time Chicago Lexus Club created their own complaints database.
