I called my Lexus dealer. they carry a cabin air filter for a 92 SC400 but wouldn't give me the part number. price is $49.99 minus 15% for "shop discount"

I'll post pics when I get mine.

hey guys, can someone please help. preferably someone who got this done already...

i ordered the filter from denso and got a filter that looks like this:

i'm not sure if this is the right one for the SC400, but i don't think so... i opened up the hatch under my glove box and this filter doesn't seem to fit in there. it's narrower than the opening. it can't be right. do i have the wrong filter?

Well i put them each in, not in 4 separate cubes, but in the 2 sets. If i recall, it was reasonably fitted.

BennySC400, To install the cabin filter you need to put one of the 2 sectional filters 4 total in at one time.

1. Take the first 2 filters, with the prong section of the filter facing downward and away from the front dash. You will have to bend the filter(at the crease) slightly because of the cabin floor. Slide the filter up into the slot. Once up into the slot grab the prong section and slide it forward toward the dash until it stops.

2. Now take the next 2 filters, with the prong section of the filter facing downward and away from the dash bending the filter slightly again slide it up into the slot until it stops. That all there is to it on my '95 Sc.

thanks Teal SC400... i'm going to give it another shot. i'm just worried, because someone on this thread is claiming the fitment for the 92' is different, and can only be done by custom fitting does anyone else know? i tried searching but i can't seem to find a anything relevant.

Yeah i always found it odd they didnt put a filter in. I don't really see them changing the plenum design from 92 to 93, because even though they added a air bag its not near there. You put one in slide it back up in the plenum then put the other one straight up in front of it as said. Easy peasy....

ya, i didn't put the second one in. i only put the first one in, and it wasn't snug. the hole is much larger than the filter, so it doesn't fit snug, it fits loosely

i dunno... i'll try again on the weekend, when i bring my car in for an oil change and possibly a coolant flush. we'll see if it fits properly when i stick the second one in after it.

is it supposed to fit snug?

BennySC400, Don't recall, but I believe my filter fittment was loose too. I believe the tab (along the length) of the filter you have in now secures the second filter by locking onto and holding it in place. I'm pretty sure I did this when I installed the filters in my car.
