Default My custom 6 puck setup!!!

So I realize my motor mounts are shot...And being broke from the expenditures of the night before, and having to put an engine in, what do I do?

I go to Sports Authority, and I buy 6 NHL rated hockey pucks, 47 cents each...they were on sale.

:-D

Wow...........

How are they working out so far? That is probably one of the funniest things I have seen done to a car. Save up and get some new mounts soon!

But yeah creative thinking!

its actually a very common way to make mounts. Lots of muscle car guys do it. It provides a very stiff mount, much like a race mount.

first saw it in SCC when they dropped a VQ into a 240sx. Very funny at first, but after reading some more it seem quite economical. Some pucks, a little welding and taa daa! brand new, stiff engine mounts! pretty cool stuff...keep us updated on vibrations!

No welding necessary, I just drilled a hole into the middle, and used a spare maxima motor mount bolt and nut I had, with some washers. Fit perfectly. And when I try and rock the engine, it moves the entire car, so I'm guessing it's pretty stiff.

When I read the title of the thread, I thought- Wow, a custom 6 puck clutch. I was wrong, eh?

nice 6 puck motor mount setup- let's see how it feels once she's on the road. Good luck!

An entertaining read, but I'd not be looking to save $120 to jury rig my engine mounts.

Perhaps they work, but I won't substitute pucks for a metal encased oem Toyota Supra direct bolt in that is about $60 each.

But I'm not about to tell you where to spend your hard earned money, but I'd be damned if I'd trust hockey pucks with the power my 2j's making and is capable of.

i agree with the above statement. as a temp fix yes i can agree it probably works well. but in the long run there is a reason for using a factory mount to support your engine. but very creative idea !!
