New Cold air intake completed!
This afternoon Leo and I finished putting and setting up the official Weapon-R Lexus SC400 (probably would fit a 300 just fine too) CAI. It's for the first gen models, since the newest ones don't have the Karmann sensors.
I can actually touch the intake pipe now! Judging by the way it feels I'd say the air's 75-80 degrees at the throttle body (just before it goes to the engine). I haven't even put on the Ram Air Kit I got, but I'll let you guys know how that goes too. I finally gave up on the analog watch and got a real stopwatch, too- I clock 0-60 at 6.8 seconds. Given that the stock time is 7.4, I'm pretty happy with the result!

Here's the important part (the sealed back)
The lid on the finished product will likely have a plexiglass window and be better attached. It's also going to be more flush with the rest of the engine bay there on the edges. Just depends on how many orders he gets.. www.weapon-r.com for contact, ask for Leo. It will also be available on www.lexussc400.com shortly.
I'll time the car with the ram air kit too. I want to get this new chip on and dyno the whole setup, so maybe you'll see a dyno chart here sometime soon.

Is your intake pipe sold seperately... A few guys here have a very nice heat shield/box from 93sc3005spd, and may only want the intake pipe...

I had Pete's airbox, this kit has a better one. It's similar, but the Weapon-R one has a back to it and seals the air intake from the rest of the motor. Check the pictures.
The pipes are part of the deal, as is the filter.

next week we'll have a price for this thing, all piping, adapters, filter and filter isolation box (the heat shield) included. I'm also going to setup a dyno time, I'm thinking about the more complex chip upgrade from Weapon-R. It's not like other people can't buy it, it's just that it needs a custom install by them because of the way it has to be put in and tuned. So, if you're around the SF Bay area you can pick up an extra 25 hp at WR

The chip is, the intake on the whole is probably 9 or 10. To be sure I'd have to put the old intake back on and drive it around a bit.
His chip's worth at least 25.. I've seen him dyno tune a GS400 and they get crazy power out of.
It's just that it's not cheap or easy, a full day of work to get it in and another to dyno it. Worth it to me though, given the gains and the local tuning support I can get.

I'm going to dyno it Thursday at Dynospot Racing... I won't be able to post much till I find a way to get back online (I'm at an iCafe right now since @Home went offline). I'll probably get scans of the dyno sheets and a dialup going for the moment.
