Crank pulley bolt- how do I remove this thing?
Three things that will work:
1. High pressure compressor...A 1/2 in gun, impact socket, and 175-200psi will usually do the job with no heat.
2. if that doesnt work, I use this tool from matco: https://www.matcotools.com/Catalog/t...#51516....This can be a one man job on the stand with the breaker bar on the floor, and use a big pipe as others have mentioned. This has only failed me once out of 30+ 2J crank pulley bolts.
3. The end all be all. If this tool doesnt do it, get a new shortblock
You need to "shock" the bolt to free it, and snap on has a burly *** tool for doing so: The site is not responding, so i cant find the link. basically it is a big bar that attaches to an impact socket of your choice, and you use a burly hammet to hit the top of it and force the bolt down. Kinda like a manual impact driver for the bolt. This tool has broken the hardest bolts our shop has ever encountered.
Thats only half the battle too, you will need a puller to get the pulley off once the bolt is off. Good luck, hope this helps!

Used a little creativity.. and got the son of a b1tch off

I wedged a metal extension between a hole in the flex plate (not using the auto tranny any more, so I had no use for that piece of scrap metal). The ratchet extension was wedged between the block and the engine stand. With two people holding the block/engine stand, my friend basically hung on the retardely large pipe- and broke the bolt free
Then after a beer, I realized I had only conquered half the battle. the damn crank pulley is stuck now. What an adventure..
I have a few good gear pullers at home. I'll try to use one of them tommorrow on the crank pulley. Hopefully it works..
