I was changing the lights in the dash yesterday, and when I put everything back together the guages were all out of sync (they dropped below zero, and don't recalibrate when starting the engine). Does anyone know how to fix this?
Now this bring me to my next question. I have a 92 sc400 and ther is only two connectors. 1, is for the needle is selft. 2 are for what i see a + and - for the light of the needle. How did i get them on the wrong spot? Do i turn the car off and manualy place then where they should be with the engine cool? I just want to know if i undrstood that right.
yes i was wondering the same thing.... i had my cluster done from OLT and lextech.. and now my gas and temp are not as "accurate" as they previously were... =\

Will I need to do anything when it get's back? Not usually. Occasionally the temp will need to be set back onto the contacts to compensate for the sensor drifting over time. Once recalibrated here back to factory spec, it may not match up since the sensor in the car has changed resistance over the years. Just start the car, warm it to proper operating temp, and slide the needle off then set it back on where it should be while the car is running (which is the halfway mark). This is caused by sensors of the car being different from car to car as they drift over time, none will be exactly the same after many years of increased resistance changes. Simple fix, shouldn't take you but a few minutes to warm the car up, then slide it off and place it back on centered (halfway) on the gauge with the car running.
This has nothing to do with his situation though as he is trying to make a stock 300 cluster work in a stock 400. Even though he has been told his situation has nothing to do with calibration of the needles, he's still trying to calibrate his needles so......
You told me all i had to do is change the tach board on it. But i wanted to know how to calibrate it before i dug into it. I want to make sure i can complete my task completely. So, do you still think i will be ok by changing the tach on it. Or did i miss something?
I had the same problem and i still got the same results. I placed them on the right location.
Its tedious and very difficult, and im not quite sure what happens but if you just keep trying, pulling it off, and adjusting it up or down, you eventually get the needle to sit like you want.
because if i change the board i still need to put everything back together. And if i need to calirate i will know how..Just wanting to know how so i need to ill know how..cant hate me for that.

It does work, i just got done doing it.
so everyone has to do this after getting their cluster done by OLT?
LoL, let me clarify, temp was just a tiny bit off, made the engine look like it was a bit warm, not a problem, just annoying for me. Also the fuel seemed to be off, so i tanked up and adjusted the needle to what i believed it should show full.
I didnt NEED to adjust the needles, but because it annoyed me, i did it.
