I know little about cars. What does "pulling the engine code" mean?

When you have a Check Engine light, finding out what the error is.

you have to use a little bit of wire. and jump the 2 connectors in the DIAGNOSE(spelling) i believe it's T1 and E1. The connector is located on the intake side of the 1j. Not 100% sure if it's in the same location as a 2j or 1u.

Not in the engine. In the diagnostic port under the dash, drivers side.
