Steering wheel badge..
How come some of the cars have that chrome L badge in the middle? I saw it on the Aussie car and thought maybe it came stock some years. THen he told me, it was aftermarket.

Then OLT (free publicity ) was saying on that thread about leaving the mark on your head if the airbag exploded.

Can someone shed some light on this? Appreciate the help.

Thanks. Just curious.

It isn't chrome. It's that chrome overlay on top of plastic/rubber (steering wheel material safety tested). An emblem is hard plastic, covered in chrome overlay which is a paint. If you grab an old emblem and scrape it flakes right off.

Oh ok. So it is the same L badge that is on the outside of the car glued on the steering wheel? If YES, then the question is why? My steering wheel already has an L badge. Did the original get damaged, thus the new one?

Thanks

NOOOOOO I said the steering wheel was the badge itself, with a chrome paint overlay. It's molded out of the safe material, not a piece of plastic like the badge.

I am confused.

So the guys that have the "shiny" L badge that they put on the steering wheel.
1) Where do they get it?
2) Why do they put it?

Hope that clears it up.

Mate the badge on the steering wheel isn't stock for sure (remember, it's a SOARER in Australia being all JDM spec, no official Lexus imports here). I myself am looking currently for a late model SC400 steering wheel (3-spoke) or out of a GS300 (also 3-spoke, but not chrome emblem)... imo looks nicer than the current brick.

I'm curious to why you didn't just ask the owner in this original thread...

don't really see a reason to post new threads.
