98-00 tail lights reverse supposed to be white?

My cousin, looked at my 98 SC this weekend, and said the reverse tail lights should be bright white, and they have "yellowed" over time. All 98-00 tails I see look the same.

Anybody know? If they were white, is there a way to get them back there again?

Appreciate the help.

if its the bulbs just swap out the bulbs..

if its the actual tail light.. im guessing just a lil polishing would do? maybe a lil 2000grit wet sand and polishing.. but thats only MY Opinion..

The lens over the reverse light yellows over time, not much you can do...

You can probably crack your tails open and replace it with a better piece of diffuser that won't yellow...

Thanks Tony. Figured it wasn't worth the hassle.

WYNN-it isn't the bulb. It is actually the tail light. But the 98-00 tails have another plastic over the white part (hard to explain) but as in 2 pieces of plastic. The outside is clear..its the inside ones that are yellow.

I was just curious how it looked the day it rolled off the showroom floor.

I heard they used to be white with a hint of pink in it, Just how some Toyotas have a pinkish color to their reverse lights.

Yeah, I wish I could see a pic of the original looked like..when it was brand new.

i have my new ones on for about 3 months and it is starting to get a yellow tint.....sucks

I forget who on this board opened up the tails and tinted them with a shade of smoke and they came out nice.

lightly tint them, I don't think there's anything you can do to prevent them from turning that dull yellow but the tink masks it and makes em look good

Blk97SC300...he did the amber, Red and the clear/pink, Smoke.
