shift lock problem

shift lock problem
hey im new to the forums
i just installed a new system in my 1992 sc400. two 10" subs. ever since i installed them to shift gears i have to hold down the shift lock override button.
anybody know what to do?
EDIT: the brake lights are out. so when theyre out the shift lock shuts down. does this mean that a fuse is just blown?
