Default IDLE vibration?

Quick question. Car is in drive for example. At a stop light. Light is green, press gas. Initially throttle pressed, there is a little vibration in the car (barely noticeable, but I am very very picky), then it goes away, and car is smooth as butter.

Car is perfect smooth at idle. Its just that initial touch of the throttle (when the car starts moving...there is slight vibration..).

Any thoughts?

So engine and tranny mounts need replacing? Cost (parts and labor)? Can this go few years, or need fixing NOW? Info would be appreciative.

Will tranny fall off?

Will do the revving over the weekend, and report back.

Also HOW does one check the engine and tranny mounts? (mechanical newbie)

Nothing will fall off, but the vibration will get worse. The parts aren't very expensive but the labor is fairly intensive in that you need to jack the motor and tranny up. If you are marginally mechanically inclined you can di it yourself just fine. Search for the write-ups here. Very informative.

Thanks for the help. Was curious, how long can I go, before I do it. The car wont be driven much (maybe 1K miles) till May. So if it isn't someting that needs to be done today, I will put it off till May. But if it needs to be done today, I will get it done. I read $190 for tranny mount at Lexus dealer.

I need to figure out if it is tranny mount of engine mount. Is there a way to figure that out?

1) Tranny mount
2) Engine mount
3) Tranny fluid change
4) Diff fluid change
5) Oil change

Gotta figure out what 1-5 will cost, and do it at once.

Wow thats cheap. WHere can I do it in the Los Angeles area? I can have that done next week. Should I buy parts from (if so where), or have the place do it all?

I am surprised that the tranny/engine mounts are this week. Car is a Dec 1998 purchase!
EMOSHUN-have you needed these on your 2000?
