Default New clutch pics!

Aiight...here's supposedly the best clutch setup for the 5-speed SC's...got it from Toyomoto.

Clutchmasters Stage V (yes FIVE) pressure plate

RPS Carbon Fiber Clutch Disk

And also pictured is a new pilot bearing and throw-out bearing

This thing looks like it'll hold a ton of power!

Holy s**t...this clutch has some power. Thanks for that left leg sympathy...I'll need it. The pedal feels like I'm pushing the ENTIRE CAR when I push in the clutch now. heh At least that way I know the clutch has a ton of holding power!

Now it's back to fixing my detonation problem. Hmm...I can't find 100 octane around here, and 15psi + 10:1 compression isn't making it happy

well I'm already running RICH RICH RICH...I think I may be getting cylinder wash (so rich the gas washes the oil off the cylinder walls...not good) it's so rich.

I've got 6deg of retard already...I don't know how much I can do realisticly (sp?) on this engine.....

Wiz,
Why are you running 15psi on pump gas????
Are you nuts?

I'm about to try the Xylene/Toluene cocktail. It ends up being pretty cheap compared to race gas. Comes in 5 gallon containers available at commercial paint suppliers.

On this boost thing....
You can dial up around 13psi from 6000+
but only 10psi in the 4000-5000rpm area.

BTW... You have the same clutch disk as I've got. I'm not too happy with mine. Its chattered from day one, squeals on occasion, doesn't hold the power as well as it should. Don't expect the chatter to go away. RPS SUCKS!

We need to get some Tilton Carbon-Carbon clutches made for the 5spd.

I have no choice but to run 15psi, actually more. I have an outrageous amount of boost creep...I've got the wrong exhaust housing on the turbo

It was supposed to be a 70, and it's a 58. So it easily goes up above 1bar even at 5000rpm's. I've got a new exhaust housing on the way, so it'll be resolved soon enough (whew).

OMG...that stuff will wipe out your fuel lines in no time...and eat the seals on the fuel injectors... Where'd ya get that idea?

Ya this clutch chatters like a beast, but it seems to hold. It slipped once, but it had less than 10mi on it then, so after breakin it should be better. As long as it'll last me the next 10k or so I'll be fine...then I'm going for the 6speed upgrade.

Check out what my old clutch looked like...OUCH.

And here's the old pressure plate...GEEZ. There were actually chunks of the metal on it ripped out. I guess that explains why it felt so odd...LOL

is this the clutch that Jeff recommended to get since he used it? I was under the impression that this was NOT an RPS clutch

btw: are there any clutches available that are NOT puck clutches like this one?

RPS pressure plate...

ClutchMasters clutch disk...

And I don't know of any high-power clutches that aren't puck design...
