I replaced the original equipment wheels (15 x 6.5) and tires (215/60HR-15) with OZ Racing wheels (17 x 8) and RE050A Pole Position tires (235/45YR-17) from the Tire Rack. Now when the tire hits a bump or rut, the steering wheel turns in the direction of the bump or rut. Is this bumpsteer? What is the fix for this problem. I called the Tire Rack and the tech said he hadn't heard of this problem. Does going to a wider tire require a new alignment? Do the wider tires change the toe-in? Thanks.
I'd definately go for a laser alignment -- it's worth the money just so you don't go through those new tires real quick.
If your align the car and still have bump steer issues, if it was me, I'd start looking at rubber parts in the suspension -- after 12 years, I doubt they're any good.
