Every thing went down hill from there. I went home to get ready for work and came back out to start my car and while idleing it was vibrating and felt like it lost power. When I accelerate its reluctant to pick up speed. Now I checked my distributer for water in it as see in another thread but want to know how do I check the igniter for water or is there something else being over looked? can anyone help me please?

 

you got your sparkplugs wet....damn water.....time to change all the plugs......

 

#1 rule of owning an Sc........... degreaser and hand wipe the engine.

 

NONONONONONONONO u dont have to change the plugs, your engine is misfiring, because the plugs arent sparking caused by the the water. get rid of the water then u are ok

I've sprayed my engine at the car wash, you just want to be smart about it!

 

I've sprayed my engine with degreaser and wiped it down, that WAS being smart about it

 

I've steam cleaned my engine twice years ago and experienced no problems...Just stay away from the critical areas and you should be good... After reading some of the horror stories over the years I have stopped the steam cleaning...

Now I just use a damp kleenex and a diaper to baby my car....

 

What do I need to do to get to the spark plugs to get the water out? Ive power washed my engin before and this never happend Im getting SC anxiety havent driven my car in two days and its just sitting at my job. Iwent by last night to put the cover on her.

 

Take the plug/wire covers off both sides and pull the wires off then use an air compressor (if you have one) to blow the water out or use a hair dryer to dry the water up. You may even want to try a wet vac and a small extension to suck the water out. Then use the hair dryer to dry it all out.

 

Remove the engine and stick it in the oven with a turkey at 450 degrees for 45 minutes...That should dry things out some....

You will also get a little Lexus flavor for Thanks Giving...

 

Is there a diy that I can follow on the board to do it with out screwing my car up worse?

 

Turkey Baster will do the trick! The same thing happend to me over a year ago...just takeoff the sparkplug covers and get the water out, should run fine after that!

 

you don't wash your engine bay with anything ... it gets on to your sensor and everything ... best way to clean it is what O.L.T. said get a degreaser and wipe it... don't spray water to it... it might not show any damage to it but i saw lots of ppl bring their car with messed up sensor caused by water or steam cleaning... you might get lucky and get away with it but i would never wash my engine bay with water or using steam clean

 

Take the spark plug covers off and gently stuff some paper towls into the sockets. Preferably some heavy duty towels that won't fall apart so easily when wet. You may have to poke the paper down with a stick. A single chopstick would work great. This should soak up all the water. No need to change the spark plugs. The water was messing up the connection from the wires to the plugs is all. Once the water is gone, everything should be ok.
