Writeup on installing GM TH400 automatic transmission
I built the trans mount adapter today, so i am updating that now.
2 days ago i updated the bellhousing/test fitting the transmission.
Next to do:
1. install shifter
2. install converter/flexplate adapter (waiting on parts from BoostWerx)
3. install trans cooler
4. attach shift cable
5. wire transbrake
6. install supra TT auto diff
6. install driveshaft

Super writeup...You did a nice job so far.. questions:
1) You have no rubber bushing between mount and tranny, do you think that may cause a problem with vibration or shock with your current crossmember metal to metal tranny mounts?
2) You obviosly need to create a custom driveshaft to propertly fit and connect to the GM tranny and Lexus differential, I am wondering who is going to build and balance the shaft for you and what it is going to cost?
3) Lastly you probably have not gotten to this point, but how is the shifter going to look? Is it lined up with the enterior decor? Any pic's...

2. the driveshaft may be getting made local to me, from what I hear the guy charges, its like $200.
3. I just installed the shifter, look above. It will not look like a stock shifter ever, unless u do something like make it look like a 5-speed with a leather shift boot to cover the shift mechanisms. my interior is not so great, so I am not worried about leaving it open just as it looks in the pics above.

Awesome write up. Is there a reason why you didn't go with a kit from say SP? I am currently debating if i want to go with a 6speed or th400 auto. I am leaning towards the th400 but can't quite decide if i want to go with the sp kit or pieceing something together like what you have done.
only reason i dont like sp kit = u have to use a hybrid converter, which are very expensive, AND the options on them are few. Whereas with this setup, I can use any GM converter and there are tons of manufacturers and they are cheap.
if you like fuel economy and street a lot, i would go six speed. they are more fun too, if your looking for fast 1/4 miles and medium street duty, def. go th400
