tint turns purple from a couple things... 1 it's cheap tint, 2 people use ammonia (windex, and other glass cleaners have ammonia, but they do have versions without ammonia)... ammonia quickens the process of removing the dye from the tint...

properly cared for, even cheap tint will last years and years without fading...

many shops have different warranties for tint, for example 1 year vs. 3 vs. 5 years... many shops that do this use the same tint for all 3 warranties because, again, properly cared for, it usually won't matter... (And if it does, they already had more base profit in the warranty cost)

I am all about the black tint on a pearl white car, it makes the paint pop so much more when there is a dark contrast

i have black tint with a hint of metallic. Metallic reflects alot of heat and stuff. Dont settle w/ crappy tint, the performance of the better ones is worth it. At the place where i got my tint at, they had this box and a heat lamp inside of it. On each side of the box there was glass and tint on it. U turn the box around and u can feel the amount of heat that the tint reflects. The high grade stuff u cant feel anything. I thought that was pretty kewl when i got my tint.

okay there are 2 types of Film,

Metallic and DYED....

Im a LLUMAR dealer so this info is dead accurate.

Dyed film is CRAP, it WILL fade, guaranteed!

Metallized film will not , llumar is the best hands down,it is backed by a NATIONWIDE laifetime warranty (PERFORMANCE FILM) so find a delear close to you and go with it. Dyed film is .5mil thick (CRAP), metallized film is 2mil thick, and Platinum (mirror) is 3mil thick.

The "regular" smoke looks GREAT on a black car, the platinum does also but has more of an O.G. look to it. IMO Platinum looks best on a Silver or white car.

Hope this helps some.
