Im not trying to make this a pissing contest. What 95 Integra suggest is just bad advice in my opinion and doesn't help the thread starter. Im just a sticker for following the service manual but if he likes to just throw stuff together and rev 9k thats fine with me, common sesnse tells me otherwise.

That car was built using a factory service manual following ALL specs. It also speaks volumes about soarer479 and his shop that he wouldnt even consider doing it the "half a$s" way. I know the proper way of building a motor and I've also done it the half *** way and neither way made a bit of difference. I guess I should only give "good advice" and not tell people to go unplug their vacuum lines going to the wastegate, but hell, the guy asked how to increase boost without spending money on a boost controller and that'll do it.

thx guys... i just got the is300 block with piston and rod it has about 22k miles on it... reason i asked question because i want to NA-T my car and my motor and about 220k miles on it. it runs strong but i don't feel safe on them driving around with turbo on it... and my goal was around 400...
so from what i understood i can use either gte or ge rod.... and block will bolt on to my non-vvti head...
so the block and the piston is strong like ge or gte ones????

supracoup3 : thx for the link it will help me a lot...

right now i have new timing belt, new water pump, all the gasket sets with TT head gasket, arp head stud, 2002 is300 block, sschrome turbo maniford ( i need to modify little to fit), and turbo spec apexi N1 exhaust (need to make custom piping on it) and other stuff just sittin in my storage... and im lookin for like 350~400 whp... im hoping that everything work out ok but i still need more info and it's time for me to do some more search here.... i better write down everything i always forget what i read from here... lol

if your swaping rods might as well get the gte. You dont have to but might as well. Here is why you shouldnt turbo a vvti block these are gte rods next to vvti rods. Cool thing though is you notice the notch near the bottom of the vvti rod. Thats a generic oil squirter.

so one on the right side is GTE rod and piston??? i heard it's almost simular with GE ones except that oil squirter... ( what does the oil squirter really do???) if it is simular between ge and gte i should just use my ge rod and piston from my old engine... and use just the vvti block... wouldn't it work that way??? i don't really have to pay and get the gte ones... unless they're dirt cheap ...

No No the one on the LEFT is the GTE rod and piston. The rods for the gte and ge are the same, pistons are different and I think the gte's have a coating??(Anyone??) Oil squirters squirt oil to the underside of the piston. Yes it would work using the ge rods and pistons in the vvti block, thats up to you though. I would just spend the extra money and get new parts.
