Default Battery????

Need a new battery for 92 SC300. Any recommendations? I know from past experience that just any battery won't work as the electrical system is more demanding than most.

If known please list brands, model#s, sizes.

TIA..

Stick with beefy good quality brands designed to work in car audio.
Why? b/c the have to pump out a lot of juice for a quite a while, 20 to sometimes 40 minutes at competitions. Most sound-off cometition vehicles swallow an easy 100 to 150 amps at any given time. So that will be more and then some, then your sc will ever need.

PS. make sure they have at least 40+ minute reserve, at around 80+ amps.

Try optima they are a good and reputable brand.

Wink the wonderful charging system...

Yeah, Our SC's could use some help in that area. The stock alternator only puts out 90 - 100 (manual, auto) amps and the battery and cables, well...

I upgraded to an Optima Yellow Top back when I had the 'ghosting' problems. They went away. Now with dual flexalite fans and an upgraded 175 amp alternator! Yeah baby. Came with a new 0 gauge cable & 200 amp battery cable and new belt!

Default Battery

Hi Scott,
I just went through the search for a new battery. My SC400 was acting slugish...I thought the injectors were to blame. I was on a trip from Phoenix to Prescott AZ, when I noted an electrical cut-out, when I flashed my headlights for a passing car to pull in. Right then I knew the battery was toast. It was less than 3 years old. I bought a new Optima for a hundred bucks and it was like driving a whole new car.

Default Optima!

I also put in an Optima, I went with the red-top. I'm using that one for the engine (since it's a starting battery) and I'm going to mount a yellow top in the trunk with an isolator (for the stereo) since they are deep-cycle batteries.
