Default Rip 94 Sc400

Anyways, I was strolling along in my car on Thursday when all of a sudden my car loses power and starts to run real sluggish. I smell smoke and the RPMs are fluctuating. I think my engine's going nuts, but upon further inspection, a mechanic told me that the car's transmission needs to be replaced. My parent's don't believe that this is worth repairing, and I can't argue with them. They're paying for it and my insurance, and I don't have money since I'm in school. So my mom is passing her ES300 down to me for me to drive and I need to say goodbye to my SC4.

186k miles, I'm definitely impressed with the longevity of these cars. Oh well.

Just fix it and keep it running! How much is it going to run you? 186k sounds pretty early to me, you can probably go double that.

Take her ES and sell it....then you have all the money... forget replacing the trans, go buy a whole 1jz front clip, and some paint, some nice wheels.

Sacrificing the ES is the only way.

Man that tranny must have been rally wrenched on sorry to hear the loss dude Do what I'm doing later in time, buy an SC400 for a daily cruiser then pick up an SC300 and go for a 1JZ to bash on all in good time though.

Haha doesn't sound like a bad idea.

After a few days contemplation, I'm going to just swap a 2jz-ge 5spd into the sc4 and turn it into an sc3 (technically). I was deciding on that or the 1jz swap, but I don't think a 1jz is a good idea as a daily driver.

Any feedback?

I got the car for free from an uncle, so yea.. I've grown an attachment to this car and there are only a few cars that I would think would blow my mind like this one has.

They can live for a whole lot more if they are well taken care of. Its too bad you arent having the transmission rebuilt. I know they cost about $1000 for the job. I say if you really love the SC,.look around for a used tranny and just have it flushed. It us much cheaper that way.

So there wasn't $300 for a tranny from aliga, but there's all this $$ for a conversion?
