I think it really also depends on the width of the wheel. For instance I have a +45 offset on a 9.5 wheel, and it sticks almost to the edge of the fender in the rear but a little further past in the front.

Don't even both with this poll. Use one of the following wheel offset calculators to see how your new wheels will sit in comparison to your current wheels.

http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

http://marksink.com/tire_wheel_offset/offset.html

And yes, the offset really depends on the width of the wheel also...

Thanks for the links!
... offset from the center of the wheels. lower offset makes the wheels to look deep.

If I still had my SC400 and I was going to do it over I would have gone with a 19X9 et 20 and 19X10 et 20. A solid roll, and a tad of negative camber and your golder. However, there is work involved to make that fit, and its not easy work.

1. Offset will not give you the complete story without the width.
2. You should define what you mean by "best" because you will soon see that this term will mean different things to different people.

what they said....offset is meaningless without width. My rears are 18x11 +19 but if I had an 18x9 in the rear, I woul be running something along the lines of 18x9 -6 or so....

Ok. Let's look at this one (G-games Sidewinder 2-piece):
http://www.wheelsdirectonline.com/gg...nder2piece.htm

For the front there are:
19X8 5-114.3 24GMM
19X8 5-114.3 30GMM
19X8 5-114.3 42GMM

They all have the same width. Which wheel looks better? (the depth ... of the lip!)

... my understanding is that wheel with lower offset has wider lip or the hub stays deeper inside the wheel ...

The hub stays where it is from factory. The lower offset pushes the wheels out closer to the guards...?

At what tire size? That's more critical than rim width...
