Cost for bushing replacement
I was wondering if someone could give me a rough estimate of the cost to have the steering rack and control arm bushings replaced in a SC400? And what vushings are the ones to get? I read here that it will do wonders for the way the car drives. My car feels fine at the moment but it is something I would like to do in the future.
TIA,
Jason

I'm starting to really get exausted with this...why won't you use the search feature? Please use it to find your answer as this has been discussed to death. I mean, I'm not trying to be mean at all but this is extremely frustrating. Please stop adding to the millions of threads that already exist on bushings unless there's something NEW to add.
This is a prime example of what the older members are talking about and why I don't see too many of them posting anymore these days. New members, please use search. Thanks.

Sorry, but not everyone can sit in front of a computer all day long using a search to read through post after post after post to find an answer that someone who has had this done can answer in about 60 seconds. I am at work, I get about 30 minutes a day while at work to get on here and ask what very few questions I do ask. Seems you had the time to type a response that added absolutely no value to the question I posted. Chalk that one up with your other 5678 posts that hopefully weren't as useless as the last one.
BTW I did use the search. I sat here for about 4 minutes while a page never loaded. Maybe the server was having issues at that time, I don't know. I didn't have time to sit here and wait. I had to return to my duties here at work. So I posted a question that I figured, since it has been discussed to death on here, someone could answer.
I'm getting exhausted with people other than Moderators and Administrators posting a worthless post telling me to use the search. I did and it didn't work.
Have a nice day.
And another thing, just because I am new to this Forum that doesn't mean that I am new to Forums. I use about 25 other automotive forums as well. I know what a search is for and I also know that they sometimes do not work. How long would it take for someone who has had all of the bushing replaced in their car to post here " Hey it cost me so and so to have all of the bushings replaced in my car"? I bet it would be a heck of a lot faster than me reading through about 25 posts to find the answer I was looking for.

Amazing. I already posted the answer to your lazy question several months ago. You want the answer? You can get it in about 5 seconds....or if you want a flame war keep talking to me. I'm the boss at my job, I can be on the net all damn day if I so choose.
Stop being so defensive and realize WHY we don't want more and more pointless threads being created about topics that have already been covered. Think for a minute, if you're capable of such an act. If everyone posted up a lazy repetitive question do you know how many useless threads would be in existence here? MIllions. We don't want that because it causes clutter when people do the right thing and search for the answer. Perhaps that concept is beyond your grasp? I do not know, only you do. Stick around a while and you'll see where I'm coming from.
So, you have no time to search...but all the time in the world to post THIS drivel? ...and enough time to go back and edit it??? ...AND enough time to surf "25 other automotive forums as well" Amazing.
I am also the boss at my job as well. But I choose not to be on the net. That's just me I guess. I have 45 employees that I need to make sure are doing their jobs. The thread was not pointless. It is not my fault that te search did not work. Funny how you can send me a private message containing the information I asked for in my post. But in this thread you do a complete 180 and assume that I did not use the search. In which I did. Here is exactly what I did:
I even clicked on Advanced Search, imagine that. I typed in "Cost to replace bushings" and selected the SC400/300 forums. I waited for the page to load. And after about four minutes with nothing loading I decided to post a question in hopes of getting a response and get back to my responsibilities. I return to the the forum upon my next break and find that I did get a response. But to my disappointment it was of no help to me.
Don't be so quick to assume things.

Hopefully the pm answered what you needed to know, and also helped you to understand why we want to minimize these types of threads. Think about this, you were frustrated at the prospect of possibly having to read through tons of threads to get your answer, so you started a new thread to get a quick answer. (You just added one more thread to the clutter for when someone else wants to find info on bushings). So then what if the next person doesn't feel like reading and starts yet ANOTHER thread on bushings, and on and on it goes with the end result being 1,028 threads on bushings with only 10 of them actually containing useful HELPFUL information. That hinders, not helps.
If you enter "EUROJulian" or my screen name (mikeloc24) in the search field along with "bushings" you will get a few helpful threads on bushing replacement...but remember what I said in the pm. Knowing what I know now I would have replaced the entire control arms, not just the bushings. If you read the threads I suggested you will find out in detail why I feel this way. Good luck.
gosh what u guys both doing? it looks really waste of time there. I even know we can search but someone's one word makes the other's happy and make their day man. Let's be nice to other members. If u don't wanna see someone asking same question just igonore it, if they don't get any answer they will search anyway. Let's stop making stress here for yourselves

for a couple of people who are 'too busy' to search or reply to a thread with a real answer, you guys sure do have a lot of time to write absolutely nothing.

Using the Search tool here DOES suck. Its time consuming unless you already know the exact keywords which are going to lead you to the thread(s) you're interested in. Even then you'll return multiple threads at times.. some with tonnes of posts, so you have to go through each one and read every single post.
Not only that, but the Search tool itself is limited. There's no support for AND/OR/XOR/NOT functionality, no support even for *exact phrase searches. If I search for "steering bushing" I get 50 threads with the word "steering" and another 50 that have the word "bushing", and of those.. some subset actualy contain BOTH words. So.. for instance, if the Search tool could support a search like "stearing AND bushing" then it'd be more useful.
Its also god-awfully slow at times.
If the search is slow, significantly time-consuming, and limiting, people aren't going to want to use it. I use it, but only because I don't want to get yelled at. Not the best feeling.
Lastly, if the administrators here actually wanted to keep the number of redundant questions down, they could do so quite simply by creating a decent FAQ (more comprehensive than the intellexual.net one: one that is actually updated regularly, perhaps a SC WIKI); and then when someone asks a redundant question, the moderators could/would delete the offending thread and PM the user the FAQ or FAQ-URL with an explanation/etc.

I'm going to have to chime in on this one:
A FAQ would greatly improve this forum. I too have had difficulty with the seaches, but I've choosen to deal with it and sift through pages rather than making a new thread with the same question. That's just my personal preference. So I see both sides to the argument, but I've also seen the backlash. I think that replying with rude answers probably isn't a nice thing to do, but also the more non relavent threads with the same redundant questions is why the search tool takes as long as it does.
So a FAQ forum should be created, and ideas should be submitted to the moderators, and then the moderators could approve or deny the submissions.
The bigger picture is that we are all here to enjoy our cars, learn new stuff, make connections or whatever...so lets focus on a solution and make this forum even better.

a sticky here and there would not hurt. there is limited information readily available. you need to search for everything, and each search can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 hours until your answer is found.

I would have to agree that the Search tool on here is not the best. Many times, when I need something, I just either PM or Instand Message a fellow member. I seriously think that there should be a really big FAQ list somewhere.
UCA, LCA, Steering rack bushings replacement will cost anywhere from $400-600 in labor depending where you go. It's labor intensive. It requires about 5-7 hours of labor. Bushings itself already cost $350.
There IS a FAQ in the works for the SC300/400 section. It's currently under construction/maintenance before it's released to viewing by all of CL as a whole. As it stands right now only a handful of people can see the FAQ (we're constantly adding to it).
I'll tell you what, y'all can have it. I'm done. Best of luck to you guys on the forum. Anybody want to speak to me, shoot me a pm. Otherwise peace
