Sorry to hear about the troubles, but in all honesty the 2JZs are pretty cheap if you just want to swap motors out. The block doesnt "generally" warp like the head because it is made from iron vs aluminum (higher melting point, malleable, etc) and has considerably more mass/strength. That and the head is exposed to the absolute hottest part of the engine (combustion chamber) and unlike a small gasket leak where a small % of the heat is getting to the block, the entire head is exposed to 1200+ degree temps. Now throw in the fact that since air raises to the top, the block generally still has coolant surrounding it while the head loses the coolant/cooling ability first. Thus, theres alot of reasons why the head warps and the block doesnt.....atleast when overheating is concerned.

BTW, where in TN are you (PM me if you dont want to post it all over the world).

Really now, because the metal in my pan heats up much quicker then the water within it. Also, if this holds to be true (for liquids I'll assume), then why use water wetter?

I'm in Nashville. I probably will end up swapping motors just because I don't want to deal with taking this one apart again. Hopefully I can get some help doing it and we'll be all set here in a few weeks.

BTW, after looking at your old pics (of the rebuild) a new motor is my suggestion as well. Mainly because your cylinder wall (#4) looked about like toast and your #1 cylinder clearly had coolant in it (due to the lack of carbon build up), yet it appears your head gasket was blown on something besides cylinder #1. Im sure if you wanted to do a total rebuild it'll be good to go....which isnt necessarily a bad idea either since a "used" motor might not be in much better shape.

II know that works. They aren't that expensive and the money I'd be paying to rebuild mine is far too much compared to just putting in a different motor.

I might keep the engine and see what I can do with it myself later, but for now it looks like I'll be finding a motor to swap it.

I see what you're saying with the cylinder walls and the no carbon in the first cylinder, I think that may have just looked funny from the way the picture was taken with the flash, because I remember that cylinder as dirty as the rest. Do you see where I took the picture of the headgasket?? What would casue that break in the copper ring then, could it have just fallen apart when I removed it if it wasnt from the blown HG?

Yeah, I definately will. I'm getting a Uhaul truck and trailer (the one that puts all 4 wheels off the ground), and driving to Louisville to go to the derby w/ my cousin then coming home on Saturday. Uhaul rents for 3 days at a time so I might as well make the most of it.

So I'll give you and Amir a call and we can work something out.
