I was thinking to myself the other day while i was driving, our cars are REALLY heavy. Especially nose heavy. What if someone was to do a 3sgte swap instead of the regular 1j or 2j gte swap. I mean the motor has to weigh WAY less. I was thinking along the lines of the top secret supra, but with only 450 horses.
Good thought but not practical I think. There is going to be A LOT of custom fab involved. That motor was designed to drive 2 wheels at once, not a driveshaft. You'll have to seal up the other end of the tranny, and the diameter of an axle is not nearly as beefy as a driveshaft. Not to mention all custom motor mounts, intercooler piping, etc. Plus you're only left with a 4 banger.
Getting 450hp out of the 3SGTE is no walk in the park either. Furthermore, that motor is far from "cheap" and the ones that are, are probably not in the best condition. The best version of this motor, the Gen3 (the one Top Secret uses in their Supra) will run you $3500+ for the clip. (This is also the motor that I have in my MR2).
So though I think its a good thought, I would still rather have nothing but the 2J Thats just my 2 cents.
If you want 450hp and dont want the weight of a SC300, get a cressida and 1JZ swap it. Stop eatting hamburgers too. You can loose alll the weight in the world on that car, and a full weight sc300 with 550rwhp on 93 octane on a basic single 1 or 2JZ setup that costs under 5 grand totall will run circles around you.
i think the only reason to do such a thing is to be different, and i wouldnt bother without lots of sponcer help. also i thought there was an IS along time ago that had a 3s in it. and i also think he had alot of work done to the motor with no more than 400hp on C16. it would be more fun to get ahold of one of those lexus V12s i forgot the engin code for it
as i was looking through the forums, everyone seems to agree that it's like 70/30 weight distribution...? i don't know havn't gone to a weigh station to weigh my car yet.
if you don't have a company to back you up, don't do it cause it will cost you a fortune... it is doable but just cost way too much...
and a 2jz will get you over 1000 HP with the same amount of $$$ invested...
nose heavy? 54.5/45.5% weight distribution. not exactly nose heavy, unless you wanna be reaaallllyyy picky.
I have a hard time believing 54.5/45.5 weight distrubution. There is hardly any weight on the rear. And you can feel how nose heavy the car is by driving it.

Can someone put a leash on this guy for consistantly wrong info? You are not going to make 550rwhp on 93 octain with only 5k. Supras with a 76mm turbo and being 6-speed barely put over 550rwhp on 93. Stop posting bull**** and misleading people who dont know better.
