those should fit fine.

I have 18x8.5 up front and 18x9.5 in back. 245x40x18 size tires up front and 275x35x18 in back. I think someone else on this board is running 255x35 up front and 285x35 in back and his front wheels rub a little on hard turns.

offset? not sure, sorry. as for the psi, I run mine at 37... but i think that i should be running them higher (stock at 16" is 33 i do believe)

post pics when you get 'em put on.

Offset like 42-44 should be ok. 38-40 you might need to work the fenders a little depending on the tires you put.

Double,

Increased offset means the wheel will be further out towards the fender.

Relapse,

I have a '95 SC300 with 8.5" X 18" @ 44mm offset front and 9.5" X 18" @ 45mm offset rear.

I have no rubbing problems. If those wheels (front and back) have an offset of 38mm - 40mm, I think you'll be fine. If they are 34-37 or 41-44 and I think it would be risky. Anything else I don't think would work.

Remeber 25.4mm = 1 inch. The offset might be written on the inside of the wheel.

255/40 X 18 on the fronts and 285/35 X 18 rear tires would work great.

I think you are mistaken...increased offset means the wheel will be further under the fender.

It is measured in millimeters, referenced to the centerline of the wheel - positive is out, negative is in.

Offset is measured by the centerline of the wheel as DoubleWoosh said...if you have a +35, the contact point (where the wheel mounts to the axle is 35mm closer to the OUTSIDE (the side you see) of the centerline of the wheel. If the offset is +45, then it's 45mm closer to the outside which would mean that once you mount it to the axle, the +45 will sit INTO (towards the motor) the fender more than a +35.

If you're going to do 255/285 (which is OK for a 9" and 10" wheel, 245/275 is a little undersized for that width but it should work fine), you may want a +40 to +42 offset to prevent rubs...

If you're going to do 245/275, you should be able to push +38 up front and +37 out back...

hi,

I had 17-9.5 wheel, 40mm offset, 275/40, and it was rubbing very bad.

Ps. my car is lowered.

manaray......As long as we're on this subject...my wheels are 18x8.5. What is the widest I can go with? Tirerack listed online a 245 as the widest...but I've had 18's with 265 before (albeit it looked like a flotation device). Can I go with 255's, or should I just stick with 245's until I get some 20s? I think I'm entering the burn-out contest at NOPI, so I'm gonna need new back tires......lol

Also, you know of any 20's I could get that would fit more to the fender, but also wouldn't break my pocketbook? (i mean cheap, but not American Racing...)

Abdul1000 - Which car do you have (year/model)? Did you have a 17x9.5 in the front?

CmputerWiz - I would do 245's but you can do 255's...but nearly every tire manuf. recommends 255's on a 9" wide wheel...

As for inexpensive 20's, well those new Intensive Trance wheels are 1 piece and available in 20"...they're only like $500 (plus shipping from japan...figure $500/set for air freight...much cheaper if you can wait for it come across on in a container) for 20"x8.5". So you're looking at about $2500 shipped to you air freight (within 1 week of ordering). Of course tires will set you back at LEAST $900...not bad though for 20's...
