I changed the steering rack bushings, good tires, coilovers, alignment. I noticed theres a slight tear in my power steering boot. Could that be the cause of all my problems? My main problem is that I have to turn the wheel a good 25 degrees to the left for it to go straight.

 

you may need new tie rod ends, have you replaced those yet?

 

Nop, I certainly havent. My next move was going to be replacing the LCAs or steering boot.

 

your tie rod ends will be the parts that will affect the steering angle's the most, but i would also replace the boot that is torn since you will want that to stay in good shape. you might also have something bent in the suspension if the tie rods dont fix the problem.

 

Time to get under the car with somebody turning the wheels (wheels still on the ground and look at the suspension). That or take it to a shop and they'll be able to fix it pretty easily since older domestics (yes, lexus = same quality as older domestics) have the same problem. Generally its the steering rack or tie rod ball joint thats gone out. Ive also seen the flex joint in the steering column go to crap, but that was on a much older vehicle that probably used a different type joint then the lexus has.

 

Have you tried a different alignment shop? I've dealt with similar handling issues and have changed the LCA bushings, steering rack bushings, new tires, and just recently the tie rod ends (my '92 SC400 has 182,768 miles). Replacing the tie rod ends got rid of the rattle that occured at low speeds over small bumps and reduced the amount of "wandering". The biggest difference to the steering wheel angle problem was resolved by going to a different alignment shop. The first shop overadjusted the alignment to compensate for the "crown" in the road and the steering wheel angle was driving me nuts. Right now you'll probably find that driving in the left lane of the freeway improves your steering wheel angle while driving in the right lane makes it worse.

 

I might have to get it aligned again. The shop I went to put way too much neg camber anyways.
