Vent next to keys

Default Vent next to keys

There is a little vent next to the ignition key. Does anyone know what this vent is used for!!!

Yeah, what Aliga said. If the climate control system on your car suddenly goes to extremes, then it is probably that silly sensor losing its mind. It doesn't really do that much, but if you unplug it like I did, while installing my autostart, it will drive you nuts.

Yeah, my 93 had really slow temp response times. I cleaned out those vents (after 211K it was yucky) and the temp unit responds much more quickly.

hey sorry for hijacking your thread, but i also wanna know whats that red "round" thing on our dash near the windshield on the left. is that like a sensor for temperature or something?

I think it is for the auto headlights... a light sensor.

Okay, I will give you the answers you seek:

The vent is for your AC cabin temp sensor as stated above.

The red thingy is your AC solar light sensor

The clear sensor on the other side of the dash is your auto light sensor.

Okay...easy

I think it defines when the climate control flips to recirc and fresh. The other sensor defines what the ambient temp is in the cabin so that it controls fans speed etc.

Who cares thou...if it works dont touch it.
