Im thinking fine grit sand paper and just sand the pillar down till its all the same color. Any ideas any one?

Not everyone will like this solution, but I do. They are carbon fiber overlay's to the door pillars.
I got them on EBAY

That would be the way I'd go

 

i thinking sand it down, order the carbon fiber overlays and if they come with a smooth texture, then paint them black and then stick them on the pillars.

but the big thing i needed to know is that it can be done. so thanks.

and yeah the black interior is all everyone ever talks about when they see my sc. its in mint and the car is also a 5spd. i lucked out;

Sure you could, I don't see why not. I like the CF look personally, but if you really want to paint them, then it would be a short cut to painting the pillars themselves.
